Running in Weymouth

Since moving to Weymouth I have re started my running, it was meant to be a way to meet friends and have something to do outside of work…. Turns out it’s become a full blown obsession.

I have made so many new friends in the running community but with that comes constant trainer envy and unfortunately the purchase of many trainers too, but also the FOMO (fear of missing out) that comes with having friends that run,  a friend will mention an event they are excited about, I will Google the event and somehow even though my running standard is not capable of this event I will book myself onto it anyway!

It started when I hadn’t even completed couch to 5k with run club, I accidentally booked myself on to a 10k in Sherborne, then a triathlon on Portland (didn’t even own a bike) then Bournemouth half marathon which was such an amazing experience.  It gets worse! Straight after Bournemouth I booked myself on the Brighton full marathon, and the 70.3 Ironman in Weymouth, both massive events and both for 2023.

I was happily training towards these events minding my own business then FOMO happened and somehow got swept along by my friends and booked Swanage to Corfe castle half, Portland costal half, just completed Berkhampstead half (that wasn’t my fault, it was a Christmas present) and this weekend I have the Weymouth half.  I also accidentally won the club place for the London marathon which is only three weeks after Brighton and then five weeks after that I have the Jurassic coast ultra (36 miles) and the day after a 5k swimathon for cancer research, so as you can see it’s an out of control obsession and if I turn up to do your hair looking sporty, chances are I have a long run to do straight after your hair appointment 🤣
